21st Century Trading Badge: Your StockTwits Handle

As the trading pits slowly fade away and trading moves increasingly online (or “on the screens” as the locals say), it isn’t only the exchange of futures contracts that is happening in the ether. The exchange of ideas that once took place amongst the locals on the floors of the exchanges is now taking place in cyberspace. And particularly, this is happening best on the StockTwits platform.

Where once you had to own or lease a seat (with it’s high overhead) and be part of an “insider’s clique” – now anyone with original ideas can match wits against the best and the brightest (and most richly funded). Followship is indeed a meritocracy, and the best minds naturally rise to the top.

In the pits, there was a subculture that rose around unique and memorable badge ID’s. Today, StockTwits has facilitated the growth of a new culture where personalities and expertise are on display in real time – 24 hours a day from around the world.

Today’s trading badge is your StockTwits handle. Wear it proudly. Embrace it. Protect it. Create value with it.
